Today’s decisions on first Intercontinental World Rowing Events of the 2021 season are postponed to Monday 8 February 2021
Following extensive discussions with all key stakeholders, the World Rowing Executive Committee has decided to postpone confirmation decisions on World Rowing Cup 1 scheduled for 30 April to 2 May 2021 in Zagreb, Croatia and the Final Paralympic Qualification Regatta scheduled for 6 to 8 May 2021 in Gavirate, Italy.
Given the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in the past few weeks, World Rowing will conduct a survey this week to better understand the issues that Member Federations are facing at this time which could affect their participation in these “global” events.
As a consequence, decisions on confirmation of these two events are now postponed until Monday 8 February 2021. The online Q&A sessions with the representatives from the Member Federations, originally scheduled for Tuesday 2 February, will be postponed to Tuesday 9 February.
World Rowing is working with the Organising Committees (OCs) of these two events to continue to ensure that the preparation of the events conforms with the World Rowing requirements for 2021 regattas. World Rowing is applying its decision-making protocol which considers the current pandemic situation in the host countries and cities, travel and quarantine restrictions affecting the teams, and the implementation of appropriate COVID response plans by the OCs.
