Final bidders for upcoming World and European Rowing Events announced
World Rowing, the official governing body for the sport of rowing, is continuing with its Strategic Event Attribution Process (SEAP) in 2022. This process recognises that many regatta venues have benefited from significant investment by local, regional and national governments, to bring them to a standard suitable for hosting international competitions.
Launched again at the end of 2021, the SEAP offers a more strategic and long-term approach to attributing World Rowing events. This edition of the SEAP allows interested parties to indicate which of the World and European Rowing-owned events between 2024 and 2026 that they believe would support their long-term events strategy.
At the final bid deadline on 22 July 2022, bids were received from 16 cities for 15 World and European Rowing events.
Final bids have been received from Europe, Asia, and North America. Notably, bids for the 2025 World Rowing Championships were submitted by Shanghai (CHN) and Amsterdam (NED). Two Member Federations submitted bids for several venues: Germany with five potential host cities, and Turkey with two.
All World Rowing Championships will be attributed by the World Rowing Congress on 26 September 2022 in Racice, CZE. The World Rowing Cup, as well as the World Rowing Under 19 and Under 23 Championships will be attributed directly by the World Rowing Council and announced at the same Congress. European Rowing events will be attributed by the European Rowing Extraordinary General Assembly also in Racice, CZE.
