Please see the below updates relating to the current qualification status of the Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls for the Tokyo Olympic Games:

Declined Quota Place from 2019 World Rowing Championships

The New Zealand National Olympic Committee have declined their quota place in the LW2x, having previously confirmed it. Following the Tokyo Olympic Games rowing qualification system, this quota place has now been offered to the NOC with the next highest placed boat from 2019 World Rowing Championships which had not already qualified a LW2x which is Canada.  The Canadian NOC has until Friday 7 May to confirm whether it accepts the quota place.

Unattributed Quota Place from the 2021 Americas Olympic and Paralympic Continental Qualification Regatta

Following the competition of the 2021 Americas Olympic and Paralympic Continental Qualification Regatta held in Rio de Janeiro, BRA and once the maximum qualification numbers of all NOCs competing at the event were taken in to consideration, a quota position in the LW2x has not been attributed due to the number of crews which took part in the event. The World Rowing Executive Committee applied the Reallocation of Unsured Qualification Places within the qualification system and, as such, the unfilled quota place will be added to the number of available quota places for the LW2x at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, SUI from 15 to 17 May 2021. To confirm, the number of LW2x quota places now available at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta is three (3).

Any further updates on qualification quota places will be communicated ahead of the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta and Final Paralympic Qualification regatta.  For any questions regarding qualification please email cameron.allen@worldrowing.com.
