The route we rowed from Morocco to Barbados in 2010. (Green line is the route the bird would fly!)

In January 2011, World Ocean Rowing will be running an Atlantic E-W crossing of the Atlantic. The route is Agadir, Morocco to Port St. Charles, Barbados - 3000 nautical miles. The row is expected to take between 45-60 days. Matt Craughwell will skipper the crew.

5 crew places are available. Email matt@worldoceanrowing.com if you’re interested in reading more in the prospectus which we can send you.

There are certain prerequisites you should be aware of before emailing Matt about the 2011 row:

1. We select the crew predominantly on the applicants desire to row an ocean - you dont need to be a rower. 2 of our 2010 crew had never rowed before and did just fine. (You would of course be expected to learn how to row in advance of January 2011.)

2. A condition of being accepted onto the crew is that you need to complete the 2 weekend-long seamanship courses we require you to do.

3. A condition of being accepted onto the crew is that you need to attend at least one of the sea trials. These will take place on weekends in Autumn 2010 on the south coast of England.

4. You will need minimum 2 (maximum 3) months off work (late December to early March) if you are accepted on to the crew.

5. There is a crewing fee involved and we’re not talking a few hundred quid. Ocean rowing expeditions such as our 2011 row cost tens of thousands of pounds to run. We do however offer the cheapest means of rowing an ocean - far cheaper than if you were to enter an Atlantic Rowing Race with your own boat.

Demand for this row is expected to be high so don’t leave it too late to get in touch!!
